Also known as Chitralekha, she was MP for Nepali Congress 1999-2008. The parliament was supspended by the king in 2002 and when it was reeinstated, the former Speaker resigned because of his support for the Royal takeover of power and she took over his duties. Her party wanted to nominated her as Speaker, but the other parties in the Coalition was against it. 2006 she refused an appointment as Minister of Water Affairs. 2007 the House of Representatives was replaced by an Interim Legislature which was in office until the election of a Constituent Assembly in April 2008. She did not get elected or nominated to the CA. Minister of Education in 2014.
