forerunner for the United Nations


1924 Permanent Delegate Elena Vararesco, Romania

Elena Văcărescu held the rank of Ambassador and acted as Substitute Delegate in 1922-1924, a Delegate in 1925-26, and a Substitute Delegate again 1926-38. A poet and author of novels, she was a member of the Gheorghe Tătărescu-headed Romanian delegation to the Paris Peace Conference at the end of World War II. She lived (1864-1947).
