1908-15 Regent, The Queen Mother Ndirikumutima
For Mutaga IV who was deposed in 1915. Her full name was Mugabekazi
Nidi Ririkumutima Bizama hitanzimiza Mwezi, and she was killed (1917) 

1972- Head of the Sovereign Family Crown Princess Rose Paula Iribagiza of Burundi
She succeeded her brother, Ntare V, as head of the Royal family. He was deposed in 1966 after a couple of months on the throne. Their father Mwambutsa IV Bangiriange (1915-66) was also deposed. He died 1977. Her first husband was André Muhirwa who was Premier Minister 1962-63. In 1984 she married Frédéric Van de Sande. Mother of 3 sons and 5 daughters.

During the Civil War the President was killed and she the highest ranking remaining person. (b. 1952-)

As Deputy Chief of State and Government, she is responsible for Economic and Social issues. Secretary General of the Transitional National Assembly 2004-05 and Spokesperson of RAFEBU (Ralliement des associations des Femmes Burundaises) and the League of the Women of CNDD-FDD.
1. Vice-President of the National Assembly 2007-08, Leader of the Democratic Alliance for Renewal (ADR) from 2009 and Presidential Candidate in 2010. (b. 1966-).

Secretary General of the Women's Leauge of the Cndd-fdd Party from 2006.
